About Hekpoort
Hekpoort is a playground for city people wanting to get away from the city noise and much loved by hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers alike. The area is incredibly beautiful, and the almost consistent blue skies and typically sunny Gauteng weather mean that this part of the world is ideal all year round. This area is rich in history, to mention some:

Archaeology

Excavations during 1936 revealed many early hominids and in 1947 Mrs Ples, female Australopithecus africanus was unearthed. The Cradle of Humankind heritage site is a well-known tourist site.
